Our Company

We offer a variety of highly accurate and reliable Vehicle Detection & Classification systems. Our laser-based classification systems provide the highest scan rates available in the industry.

History

OSI LaserScan was founded in 2003 following OSI Systems' acquisition of Schwartz Electro-Optics' Sensor Business Unit. The company continued to operate in Orlando, Florida, until September 2008, when it became a division of OSI Optoelectronics, and operations moved to OSI Optoelectronics’ facilities in Hawthorne, California.

OSI Optoelectronics

In 2006, several subsidiaries were merged under the OSI Optoelectronics brand to streamline operations and optimize resources. This new entity continues to serve the same clientele and applications as before.

UDT Sensors

Established in 1967, UDT Sensors is one of the largest manufacturers of standard and custom photodiodes and optical sensors in the United States. They offer design and manufacturing services for both commercial and defense applications, producing products such as standard and custom photodiodes, optical sensors, thin/thick film ceramic hybrid modules, and more.

CentroVision

A spin-off from Centronics Ltd in the mid-’80s, became a major player in the silicon photodiode industry, manufacturing UV, Visible, and Near IR detectors. The company was acquired by OSI Systems, Inc. in 2002.

OSI Fibercomm

Established by OSI Systems Inc. in 1998, provided innovative optical communication components and subsystems for high-speed data and voice transmission network applications. They also offered various industry clients custom fiber-optic subsystem designs and manufacturing services.

AME

A/S Akers Electronics, the first microelectronic company in Scandinavia, was founded in 1967 to develop and produce microelectronics. Later known as AME A/S, the company was acquired by OSI Systems, Inc. in 1997.

OSI Laser Diode

Founded in 1967, Laser Diode is a premier manufacturer of solid-state lasers and a leader in laser diode technology. They collaborated on many of the laser-based military programs still in use today. In 2000, LDI was purchased by TYCO Industries, enhancing TYCO’s dominance in the fiber optic space due to the demand for high-energy, high-reliability lasers for telecommunications applications. OSI Systems purchased LDI in 2011, requiring a source manufacturer with vision, technology, and expertise to supplement its ability to become one of the premier Opto Assemblies companies in the world.

Advanced Photonix

In 2018, OSI Optoelectronics acquired Advanced Photonix from Luna Innovations. With over 30 years of combined experience in photonics and optoelectronics, Advanced Photonix, a pioneer in developing Large Area Avalanche Photodiodes (LAAPD) with world-class manufacturing globally, is one of the largest manufacturers of standard and custom photodiodes and optical sensors in the United States.

Technology

OSI LaserScan produces a variety of leading laser scanner systems for worldwide commercial use. As a leader in advanced laser scanning technology, OSI LaserScan has developed, and patented, a sophisticated range of infrared vehicle sensors which tracks and analyzes traffic across a wide range of traffic surveillance surveillance applications.
